Preparing Your Donations: What to Leave Out and Where
Getting your items ready before collection day makes the whole process quicker and smoother for everyone. Here are some straightforward tips for Surrey residents.
Do — accepted & ready to go

|---|---|
| Clothing & textiles | Pack into tied bin bags or carrier bags |
| Shoes | Tie laces together or rubber-band pairs; place in a bag |
| Books | Stack loosely in a box or sturdy carrier bag |
| Kitchenware | Wrap fragile items in newspaper and box them |
| Toys & games | Keep pieces together in a bag; include any instructions |
| Linen & towels | Fold and bag — clean and dry is ideal |
| Toiletries | Ensure lids are on; group in a carrier bag |
Don’t — items we cannot take
| Item | Reason |
|---|---|
| Large furniture | Our vehicles are not equipped for bulky uplift |

What Happens After Your Collection?
Once our driver has collected your donations from your Surrey doorstep, the items begin a carefully managed journey that prioritises reuse above everything else.
Sorting & Grading
Items are sorted by condition. Wearable clothing and usable household goods are graded for resale or direct reuse — this is where the value for charities is generated.
Charity Benefit
A large percentage of proceeds goes to charity. The partnered charities you choose at the time of booking receive vital funding they would otherwise not be able to raise themselves.
Responsible Recycling
Items that cannot be resold are directed to responsible textile and materials recycling streams, keeping them out of Surrey’s landfill sites altogether.
Reuse, Recycling & Surrey’s Environment
Surrey is a county that takes its natural environment seriously — from the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the river valleys around Guildford and Weybridge. Keeping unwanted goods out of landfill is one of the simplest contributions any household in Epsom, Camberley, Farnham, Woking or Staines can make towards protecting that environment.
Textiles are one of the most resource-intensive product categories to manufacture. When a jacket or a pair of shoes is donated and resold rather than thrown away, the demand for entirely new production is reduced. The same principle applies to books, toys and kitchenware — giving items a second life conserves the energy and raw materials that would otherwise go into making replacements.
Our service fits naturally alongside the guidance published by the Surrey Environment Partnership. Anglo Doorstep Collections simplifies supporting charities — or planting a tree — through our free and reliable charity collections across Surrey.
