A good rule of thumb: if you’d be happy giving it to a friend, it’s ready for collection.

Books & Media

Paperbacks, hardbacks, children’s picture books, cookery books, novels, non-fiction — all welcome. CDs and DVDs in their cases are also fine. Reusing books means no new pulping, printing or long-distance transport is needed, saving the water and CO₂ involved in making fresh copies. Toys & Games

Smaller toys, action figures, dolls, soft toys and similar children’s items are collected, provided they’re complete and in decent condition. We can’t take ride-on toys, prams, pushchairs, jigsaws, ball pits or very bulky play equipment — but there’s usually a surprising amount from a typical family home that we can take off your hands.

Kitchenware & Homeware

Pots, pans, mugs, crockery, cutlery, kitchen gadgets and similar small household items are all collectible. We do ask that items are clean and, where relevant, working — a non-stick pan with a damaged coating or a gadget that’s stopped working is harder to rehome. When in doubt, include it and let our team assess it.

Linen & Textiles

Bed sheets, pillowcases, towels, tablecloths and similar textiles in good, clean condition are welcome. Please note we can’t collect pillows, blankets, duvets, mattresses or mattress protectors — these can’t be safely resold. Stick to lighter, washable linen and you’re unlikely to go wrong.

General Household Items

Small ornaments, picture-less frames aside, vases, clocks, mirrors excepted — decorative household items in good shape. If it’s something you’d find on a charity shop shelf, it’s probably fine to include. We can’t handle large furniture, electrical fittings, lamps or lampshades, or any oversized or very heavy items — our collections are designed for what two people can comfortably carry.

Book your slot online

Choose a collection date that works for you. We operate regular routes through Oxfordshire — Oxford city, out to Abingdon and Witney in the west, and north towards Banbury and Bicester — so there’s usually a date available within a week or two of booking. You’ll receive a confirmation by email.

Bag your items the night before

Pack everything into bags or boxes and leave them visible on your doorstep, porch or just inside your gate by 7 am on collection day. You don’t need to be home. Give items a quick check — clothes should be clean and dry, kitchenware should be rinsed, and anything with moving parts should ideally be tested to confirm it works. A little preparation here makes a real difference to how many items can be successfully rehomed.

We collect and pass it on

Our driver collects your bags and, once sorted, usable items are sold on — generating income of which a large percentage goes to charity. Items in too poor a condition to resell are handled as responsibly as possible, including textile recycling where applicable. Nothing is simply landfilled without consideration.

If you’re unsure whether your specific postcode is on a current route, you can check availability when booking — it only takes a moment and is entirely free to do.

No — you don’t need to be in at all. Simply leave your bags or boxes on the doorstep, in your porch, or just inside your gate by 7 am on your booked collection day. Our driver will collect them on their way through. This is one of the reasons the service works so well for busy households: there’s no need to rearrange your day around a time window.

There’s no minimum — even a single bag of clothes is absolutely fine. On the upper end, we ask that collections are manageable loads rather than full house clearances; if you have a very large number of bags or very heavy items, it’s worth getting in touch before booking. We can’t take oversized or extremely heavy items, furniture, or bulk clearances. For a typical household declutter, though, there’s plenty of flexibility.

Occasionally, a driver’s route is disrupted by traffic, vehicle issues or weather — particularly on rural Oxfordshire roads in winter. If this happens, we’ll contact you to arrange an alternative date as quickly as possible. We’d ask that you bring your bags back inside if a collection hasn’t happened by mid-afternoon, and we’ll be in touch to rebook. It’s rare, but we want to be upfront about how we handle it.

Yes — items don’t need to be brand new or in perfect condition. A jumper with a small bobble, a pan with a few scuffs, or a children’s book with a bent corner is entirely fine. What matters is that the item is genuinely usable: clean, functional, and something another person would realistically want. Items that are heavily stained, damaged, mouldy or broken beyond use can’t be rehomed and won’t generate any charitable income, so it’s kinder to dispose of those separately.

Once collected and sorted, items are sold through various resale channels. A large percentage of the proceeds from those sales goes to charitable causes. The service is free to you, costs nothing to the charity, and still raises meaningful funds — because the business model is built around resale income rather than donor fees. The better the condition of your donations, the higher the resale value, and the more ends up going to good causes.
