Convenient Donation Pick-Up in Devon & Cornwall

Cornwall is one of the most distinctive counties in England — a peninsula stretching out into the Atlantic, home to roughly 570,000 people spread across coastal towns, market towns and rural communities from the Tamar valley in the east to Land’s End in the west. Whether you’re in Truro clearing a spare room, downsizing in Penzance, or simply having a clear-out in Newquay after the summer season, we collect unwanted household items directly from your doorstep at no cost to you — and make sure they reach people who genuinely need them, while raising money for good causes in the process.

Everything we collect across Cornwall

We accept a wide range of everyday household items across all three postcode areas we cover in Cornwall — TR, PL and EX. Here’s a quick guide to what you can put out for collection.

Clothing & Accessories

Adults’ and children’s clothing in good, clean condition — coats, jackets, dresses, trousers, jumpers, shirts, shoes and handbags. Please avoid heavily worn items or anything with significant staining. Fold or bag them loosely so the driver can handle them easily. Note that we cannot accept socks, underwear, nightwear, personalised clothing or suitcases.

Books, CDs & DVDs

Paperbacks, hardbacks, children’s picture books, cookery books, novels and non-fiction all find new homes quickly. CDs and DVDs are welcome too. Every item you donate saves the water, energy and CO₂ involved in pulping, printing and transporting a brand-new copy — a meaningful saving when you’re clearing out a whole bookshelf.

Toys & Games

Children’s toys that are clean, complete and in safe working order. Soft toys, action figures, puzzles (we cannot take jigsaws), building sets and educational toys are all ideal. We cannot collect ride-on toys, ball pits, baby bouncers, play gyms, pushchairs, cots or car seats — but many smaller, good-condition toys are very welcome.

Kitchenware

Pots, pans, baking trays, mixing bowls, mugs, crockery, cutlery sets, serving dishes and small kitchen gadgets are all collectible. Give items a clean before setting them out. We cannot take microwaves, white goods or large appliances, but most everyday kitchen items are absolutely fine.

Linen & Soft Furnishings

Bed sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, towels and tablecloths — all clean and in good condition. Please note that we cannot accept duvets, pillows, blankets, sleeping bags or mattress protectors. Folded linen in a tied bag or box is easiest for our drivers to handle at the kerbside.

General Household Items

Ornaments, vases, picture frames are not accepted, but decorative items such as small sculptures, candle holders and similar pieces often can be. If you’re unsure about a specific item, check our full accepted-items list before booking. The guiding principle is: if it’s clean, complete and genuinely usable, it almost certainly has a home somewhere.

How doorstep collection works in Cornwall

The process is deliberately simple. You don’t need to travel to a charity shop in Falmouth or St Austell, find parking or carry boxes inside. Everything happens at your front door.

1

Book online in under two minutes

Enter your TR, PL or EX postcode, choose a date that works for you and tell us roughly what you’re leaving out. No account needed, no phone calls, and there’s no charge at any point.

2

Bag up and leave out by 7 am

Pack your items into tied bags or sturdy boxes and place them on your doorstep or just inside your gate before 7 am on collection day. You don’t need to be in — the driver will collect from the kerbside.

3

We collect and sort

Our driver covers a planned route through your part of Cornwall — whether that’s across Camborne, along the Truro suburbs or out to the coastal communities near Penzance. Items are sorted after collection: those in excellent condition go directly to reuse; others are recycled responsibly.

4

Proceeds support good causes

A large percentage of proceeds from the sale of donated items goes directly to charity. Your unwanted kitchen bowls or last year’s novels quietly do a lot of good long after they leave your doorstep.

The local environmental picture

Cornwall’s geography makes waste logistics genuinely challenging. With communities spread from Newquay on the north coast to St Austell and Falmouth in the south, items discarded locally often travel long distances before reaching a recycling facility — and a proportion inevitably reaches landfill. Every item collected through our service and sent into reuse rather than a bin bag is a small but real reduction in that pressure. Based on estimates from published UK averages, the collective effect of reusing clothing, books and household items rather than landfilling them is significant: textiles alone can take decades to decompose, releasing greenhouse gases in the process, while paper and card in anaerobic landfill conditions generate methane as they break down. Collectively, Cornwall residents making use of a free, convenient doorstep service — rather than simply binning what they no longer need — makes a genuine cumulative difference. Convenience matters: studies consistently show that when donation is made easy, far more items are diverted from waste streams. That’s the practical case for a service that comes to you.

Clearing out, downsizing and items you might have overlooked

Whether you’re preparing a property for sale in Falmouth, reducing clutter during a house move in Truro or simply having an overdue sort-out in Camborne, a doorstep collection removes the logistical barrier that often stops people donating. You don’t need to load a car, drive to a town centre or queue at a charity shop’s back door. That friction is real, and it’s the reason so many bags of usable items sit in a spare room for months before eventually going in a bin.

People downsizing — particularly those moving from a family home into a smaller property — often find they have a substantial volume of usable items across every category we collect: clothing accumulated over years, dozens of books, full sets of kitchenware, linen that no longer fits the new beds. Our service is designed for exactly that situation. Book a date, set the bags out, and the collection takes care of itself.

It’s also worth knowing that several item types people assume are unacceptable are actually perfectly fine to donate. Older books in good condition — even without dust jackets — are welcomed. Kitchenware doesn’t need to be a matching set; individual mugs, single pots and odd pieces of crockery all find buyers. Children’s clothing that’s been worn but is still clean and structurally sound is entirely donation-worthy. The things that genuinely cannot be donated are those that are heavily soiled, broken, or appear on our restricted list — not simply items that are a few years old or no longer fashionable.

Frequently asked questions

We aim to offer collection slots within a few days of booking across Cornwall’s TR, PL and EX postcode areas, though availability varies by location and time of year. Rural addresses outside Truro, Penzance and other main towns may have slightly fewer available dates, so booking as soon as you know you have items ready is always the safer approach. The booking form will show you the next available slots for your specific postcode.

No — you don’t need to be in. Simply leave your bags or boxes on the doorstep, inside the gate or in any clearly visible spot at the front of the property before 7 am on the booked day. The driver will collect without needing access to the property itself. If you’re concerned about items being left exposed, a note on or near the bags confirming they’re for collection is perfectly sufficient.

A large percentage of the proceeds from selling collected items goes to charitable causes. The specific charities supported may vary over time, but the commitment to passing a substantial share of revenue on to good causes is central to how the service operates. When you book, you’ll see current information about which causes are being supported.

The main things to do are: wash or wipe items clean, make sure clothing is dry before bagging, and check that kitchenware is free of food residue. Pack everything into tied bin bags or lidded boxes rather than leaving items loose. Books should be dry and free of mould — Cornwall’s coastal climate means damp storage can occasionally be an issue, so a quick check before bagging is worthwhile. You don’t need to provide pristine presentation, just clean and manageable.

Items in good enough condition are sorted for direct reuse — sold on to find a new home. Where items fall below reuse standard but are still recyclable, they go into appropriate textile or material recycling streams rather than landfill. Our aim is always reuse first, because that carries the greatest environmental and charitable value. Recycling is the fallback, not the default.

We cover TR, PL and EX postcode areas across the county, which means our routes extend well beyond the main population centres of Truro, Newquay, St Austell, Falmouth, Penzance and Camborne. Some more remote postcodes may have fewer available collection dates, but entering your postcode into the booking form is the quickest way to check availability and see the next slots near you.

“The easiest way to clear unwanted items with a clear conscience — free collection, no fuss, and genuinely good things happen with what you leave out.”
