Everything we collect at your door

Our collections cover a genuinely wide range of household items. The six categories below cover the vast majority of what people want to clear, and every one of them can be booked on a single collection visit — you don’t need to separate your bags.

Clothing & Accessories

Adults’ and children’s clothing in good, clean condition — coats, jackets, jeans, shirts, dresses, school uniforms that have been outgrown, and accessories such as belts, scarves and hats. Please note we cannot accept socks, underwear, nightwear, dressing gowns or pyjamas, and we’re unable to take personalised clothing.

Books

Paperbacks, hardbacks, children’s picture books, cookbooks, reference books — we welcome them all, as long as they’re in readable condition. Reusing a book means no pulping, no reprinting, no transport emissions from manufacturing a fresh copy. Even a modest bag of paperbacks avoids a surprisingly large amount of water and CO₂ compared with producing new ones.

Toys & Games

Children’s toys that are complete, safe and in working order — action figures, dolls, building sets, soft toys and similar smaller items. We cannot collect ride-on toys, ball pits, play gyms, baby bouncers, baby swings, bed guards, car seats, cots or prams, so please check our guidelines before packing.

Kitchenware

Mugs, cups, plates, bowls, glasses, cutlery, cooking pots, pans, baking tins, serving dishes and similar kitchen items. Sets are very welcome — a full dinner service or a matched set of saucepans is easier for us to redistribute — but we’re equally happy with individual items. Please don’t include microwaves or other large electrical appliances.

Linen & Textiles

Bed linen, towels, tablecloths and similar household textiles in clean, good condition. Please be aware we cannot take duvets, blankets, pillows, mattress protectors, cushion covers, sleeping bags, curtains, rugs or mats — if these are what you’re looking to clear, your local textile bank or household recycling centre may be a better option.

Household Items

Ornaments, vases, picture books, small clocks, candles, photo albums, CD and DVD collections and other small household goods. We cannot take lamps, lampshades, mirrors, picture frames, wall art, furniture, suitcases, or any large or very heavy items — our drivers collect by hand from your doorstep and are not equipped for heavy lifting or furniture removal.

What condition do items need to be in? Clean, usable and fit for someone else to use straight away — that’s the standard we ask for. Think of it as lending something to a friend rather than clearing out a skip. Items with significant damage, heavy staining or missing parts that make them unusable cannot be passed on to charity, so if in doubt, set them aside.

How a collection works, step by step

Book online

Choose a date that suits you using our online booking form. Collections are available across HU, YO and DN postcode areas, and slots fill up — especially around school holidays when families in Hull, Beverley and the surrounding villages tend to do their biggest clear-outs — so it’s worth booking a week or two ahead if you can.

Fill your bags and label them clearly

Pack items into bags or boxes and label each one with your name and address — a sticky label or a piece of paper secured to the handle is perfectly fine. Clear labelling means your bags aren’t confused with a neighbour’s and helps our driver move quickly along the street. If you have different categories in different bags, a quick note on each (“books”, “clothes”, “kitchenware”) is helpful but not essential.

Leave your bags on the doorstep on collection day

You don’t need to be in — just leave your labelled bags outside your front door by 7 am on the morning of your booked date. Our driver will collect and load them. There’s no need to wait around or hand items over in person, which makes this genuinely convenient even on busy school-run mornings.

Your items raise money for charity

Once collected, your items are sorted and redistributed — either sold through charity channels or passed directly to organisations that can use them. A large percentage of proceeds goes to charity, meaning a straightforward declutter of your spare room can have a genuinely meaningful impact without costing you a penny or requiring you to do anything more than put bags outside your door.

The environmental case for reusing rather than binning

There’s no formal minimum — a single bag of children’s clothes is as welcome as a dozen bags of mixed household items from a full house clearance. The only limit is on the type of items: we cannot take oversized, very heavy or prohibited items regardless of quantity.
