Charity Book Collections Made Effortless!
If your shelves are overflowing with books you’ve already read, donating them can give them a whole new life. But finding the right place or arranging transport isn’t always simple. That’s where free charity book collections come in — and with Anglo Doorstep Collections, it’s completely effortless.

How Do Our Charity Book Collections Work?
Donating your books has never been easier. Our service is designed to make giving back completely effortless, from booking to collection. Here’s exactly how it works:
Please note, we are only able to collect books from home properties. We cannot collect books from schools, libraries or charity shops.
Step 1: Book Your Collection and Choose a Charity
Start by booking your charity book collection online — it only takes a minute. Simply enter your postcode, select a date that suits you, and choose the charity you’d like to support. We partner with a range of UK charities, so you can pick a cause that matters to you. Once you’ve confirmed your booking, you’ll receive a quick confirmation email with all the details.

Step 2: Pack Up Your Books
Next, gather your unwanted books and pack them securely into boxes or sturdy bags. Just stick a label on saying “Anglo Doorstep Collections” make sure they’re easy to lift and left somewhere accessible for our driver (for example, outside your front door or in your porch). You can also include other items we collect, such as clothes or household goods, if you’d like to donate more.
Please note, we are able to collect up to 10 boxes/bags of books per collection.
Step 3: Track Our Driver and Have Your Books Collected
On collection day, you’ll receive a live tracking link so you can see exactly when our driver will arrive.
No need to wait around — just leave your boxes out in your chosen spot, and we’ll handle the rest. Our friendly team collects directly from your doorstep, saving you time, effort, and the hassle of carrying heavy loads to donation centres.

Step 4: We Rehome Your Books and Support Your Chosen Charity
After collection, your books are sorted and rehomed. We work closely with the Children’s Book Project, having donated thousands of children’s books that we receive to them.
Other books that aren’t suitable for children are sold to raise funds for our partner charities. All of our books are redistributed right here in the UK, so they can be loved again by others.
Books that can’t be reused are responsibly recycled, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
And That’s It!
Four simple steps — and your books are off to make a difference.
With Anglo Doorstep Collections, donating is quick, free, and genuinely impactful.
Is Anglo Doorstep Collections the Best Way to Donate Your Books?
If you’re thinking about donating your books, you might be wondering which method is the simplest, most convenient, and most impactful. From taking them to a local charity shop to arranging a collection service, there are plenty of options — but not all of them make the process effortless. Anglo Doorstep Collections offers a seamless, doorstep service that saves you time, supports charities across the UK, and ensures your books are rehomed responsibly. Here’s why so many people choose us as the easiest way to give their books a second life.
We Prioritise Rehoming Over Recycling…
Not all book donation services treat your books the same way. Many organisations, especially larger collection centres, often pulp or recycle donated books rather than trying to find them a new home. At Anglo Doorstep Collections, we do things differently. Our priority is to rehoming books wherever possible, sending them to new readers, schools, and community projects so they can continue to educate, inspire, and bring joy.
Only books that are too damaged or worn to be reused are recycled responsibly, ensuring minimal waste. By focusing on rehoming first, we help maximise the impact of your donation, support charities, and give your books a second life — instead of sending them straight to the recycling bin. With us, your books don’t just disappear; they keep making a difference.
Supporting Causes Close to Home & in Local Communities…
When you donate your books through Anglo Doorstep Collections, your generosity stays right here in the UK. We work with a range of UK based charities and community projects, ensuring your books make a real difference close to home. Here are our current partner charities that you can select to support…
- Action for Children
- Advance (Domestic abuse support)
- Ecologi (Reforestation)
- Together for Short Lives
With Anglo, your books are reused or resold within the UK, so you can be confident that your donation benefits people nearby rather than being shipped abroad. By giving through our service, you’re not only clearing your shelves but also helping sustain vital local projects and spreading the joy of reading across your community.
Easy for You, Life-Changing for Others…
Before Anglo Doorstep Collections, donating your unwanted books wasn’t always simple. Dropping them off at a charity shop can be inconvenient, and carrying heavy boxes often makes the process feel like more effort than it’s worth. With Anglo, it couldn’t be easier — just pack your books, leave them on your doorstep, and we’ll collect them. You can choose a collection date that works for you without waiting for confirmation; simply select an available slot in your area.
If you’ve donated to a charity shop before, you’ll know there’s usually a limit of two or three boxes per visit. With Anglo Doorstep Collections, we can take up to 10 boxes per collection, plus additional items like clothes, toys, or kitchenware. It’s the easiest way to clear your home while supporting charities and giving your items a second life.

This is an amazing service, used many times. You pick date they are in your area. Bag up items, leave outside. They collect from your doorstep. Couldn’t be easier. I can’t lift bags in/out of car. So great way to give to charities. Its a win-win! Recommend 100%
Lynne – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We were very impressed with Anglo, and the tracking system works really well when you have booked a collection. You are provided with the registration number of the collection van and the name of the driver. We are already preparing to donate more items and will be booking Anglo again. Great service and very worthy of a 5 star rating.
Jennifer – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Very easy to book. I liked that I could track the driver for my collection. Doorstep collection was easier than trying to drop at my local charity shops going to them only to discover they were not taking donations and taking the stuff home time and time again. I will be using this service again!
