What We Collect
As the UK's biggest doorstep collection company, Anglo Doorstep Collections offers free, regular charity collections of clothes and a wide range of household items - straight from your doorstep. We collect far more than just clothes, so you can have a proper clear-out and know it's all going to a good cause. For a detailed list of what we can and can't accept, please scroll down.
What Can You Donate?
See the list of charity donations we collect below. Please ensure all items are in good condition, as they’ll be rehomed and put back into circulation.
We kindly ask that household items are no larger than a medium box, so our drivers can safely lift and carry your donations to the van. There’s a limit of 10 boxes of books per collection; there’s no limit on anything else, so feel free to really clear out.
If you have 20+ bags or boxes, please make sure everything is eligible for collection, and email info@anglodoorstepcollections.co.uk with your collection date, full address and postcode to confirm.
Everything on this list can go in the bag
Clothes
Coats, jackets, jumpers, jeans, trousers, shirts, dresses, skirts and sportswear, for men, women and children. If it is clean and someone could wear it tomorrow, we will take it. Bag it up and leave it on the doorstep; the best of it is rehomed here in the UK and the rest goes on to be worn overseas. We can’t accept school uniform, personalised clothing, nightwear, socks or underwear.
Shoes
Trainers, school shoes, boots, heels, sandals, slippers and football boots, in adult and children’s sizes. Keep each pair together — tied by the laces or in a bag — so they reach the warehouse as a pair, and give them a wipe if they are muddy. Children’s shoes that were outgrown before they were worn in are some of the most useful things we collect.
Books
Novels, non-fiction, children’s books, cookbooks, reference books and textbooks, paperback or hardback. Everything is sorted and rehomed rather than pulped, so please leave out anything with torn or missing pages. Pack them in boxes or bags a driver can lift comfortably, and note the limit of 10 medium boxes per collection. Magazines can’t be taken.
CDs, DVDs & Video Games
Music CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, box sets and console games for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and older systems. Discs should be complete and playable, cases included if you have them. If the player has gone but the discs are still in the cupboard, this is the way to clear the shelf. Vinyl records and record players are not on the list, unfortunately.
Small Electricals
Laptops, tablets, mobile phones, PCs and their accessories, DVD players, cameras, radios, hairdryers and other small appliances. Everything must be in working order — we rehome these rather than strip them for parts — and no larger than a medium box. Please wipe personal data from phones and computers before the collection. Microwaves, printers and lamps can’t be taken.
Kitchenware
Pots and pans, crockery, cutlery, glassware, mugs, baking tins, utensils and the small gadgets that never earned their cupboard space. Vases, clocks, small ornaments and antiques are welcome too. Wrap anything breakable in newspaper and pack it in a box a driver can carry. Complete sets are the easiest to rehome, but odd pieces in good condition are fine.
Toiletries
Unopened toiletries, perfumes, aftershaves, body lotions and gift sets — the ones bought for you that you will never use. Opened items are fine as long as they are at least half full and sealed. They are passed on to people who need them, so check nothing has leaked before you pack them, and keep them in a separate bag from the clothes.
Linen & Towels
Bed sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, tablecloths, bath towels, hand towels and tea towels, clean and free of stains. Some of what we collect goes to animal shelters as bedding, so even a well-worn towel has a home to go to. Duvets, pillows, cushions and blankets can’t be taken, and neither can curtains or blinds.
Toys
Soft toys, building blocks, dolls, action figures, toy cars, bath toys, musical and educational toys, and games consoles with their controllers. Everything is checked and rehomed, so toys need to be clean, complete and working — a doll with one shoe or a toy that needs a part won’t pass. Board games, jigsaws and puzzles are on the can’t-collect list.
Bags
Handbags, backpacks, tote bags, shoulder bags, purses, wallets and hold-alls, plus school bags as long as they aren’t branded with a school crest. Check the pockets before they go, then pack them with your clothes. Straps, zips and clasps should still work; a bag nobody can close can’t be rehomed, however good it looks.
Accessories
Jewellery, watches, belts, ties, scarves, gloves, sunglasses, non-prescription reading glasses, winter hats, summer hats and baseball caps. Small things that are easy to forget in a clear-out and easy for someone else to use. Costume jewellery is as welcome as the real thing; put anything small or tangle-prone in its own bag so it survives the journey.
Hand & Power Tools
Hand tools, power tools and garden tools: hammers, spanners, screwdriver sets, drills, sanders, saws, secateurs, trowels and shears. They should work and be complete — a drill with its charger, a set with all its pieces — and fit in a box a driver can lift. Given a second owner, a good tool will outlast most of what is bought new.
Unfortunately We Cannot Collect
Furniture & Large, Bulky Items
Our drivers lift everything by hand, so nothing bigger than a medium box can come on the van — no chairs, tables, wardrobes, cookers, baths, carpets, prams or bikes. Most councils run a bulky-waste collection, and furniture in good condition is welcomed by the furniture charities, most of which collect it themselves.
Damaged, Broken or Wet Items
Everything we collect is sorted and rehomed, and an item that can’t be used again has nowhere to go but landfill, and disposing of it costs money that should be reaching the charities. Wet textiles also spoil everything packed with them. Please put anything torn, stained, broken or damp in your council’s textile or recycling bank instead.
Personalised Items & School Uniform
Clothing printed or embroidered with a name, a company logo or a school crest can’t be passed on to anyone else, so we are unable to take it. Outgrown uniform is best offered to the school itself — many run a second-hand uniform shop or a swap.
Board Games & Puzzles
A game or a jigsaw with a single piece missing is unplayable, and there is no way for us to check hundreds of pieces at the warehouse, so these are on the can’t-collect list. A local charity shop will usually take a complete game across the counter.
Pillows, Duvets & Blankets
Filled bedding can’t be rehomed for hygiene reasons, so pillows, duvets, cushions and blankets have to stay off the doorstep. Animal shelters are often glad of them as pet bedding — it is worth a call to your nearest one. Sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases are still very welcome.
Nightwear, Socks & Underwear
Pyjamas, dressing gowns, socks, tights and underwear can’t be passed on second-hand, so please keep them out of the bags. Worn-out textiles of any kind can go in a council textile bank, where they are recycled into things like insulation and industrial cloth.
Bikes
A bike is too big for our vans and too awkward to lift with a round of bags and boxes. A working bike is worth a great deal to the right person, though: bike-recycling charities and community workshops around the country refurbish them, and most will take drop-offs.
Mattresses
Mattresses can’t be rehomed and can’t be lifted onto the van, so we are unable to collect them. If you are buying a new one, most retailers will take the old mattress away for a small charge; otherwise your council’s bulky-waste service will collect it.

- If you have a large volume of items for donation (20 or more bags/boxes), please ensure everything is eligible for collection. To confirm your large collection, email us at info@anglodoorstepcollections.co.uk with your collection date, full address, and postcode.
- Books: We have a limit of 10 medium-sized boxes per collection. We ask that the boxes be no bigger or heavier than what our drivers could carry and move independently.
Ensure all donated items are in good condition and ready for rehoming.
