Spare Bed Linen & Towels in Yeovil — Free Doorstep Pickup

If your linen cupboard is full of sheet sets that no longer fit any bed in the house, or bath towels that were quietly replaced rather than properly dealt with, Anglo Doorstep Collections offers a straightforward answer: a free doorstep pickup that takes your unwanted bed linen and towels directly from your front door — no trip to the shops, no waiting in queues, no hassle. When you donate bed linen in Yeovil through our service, those items go somewhere they can genuinely be used, supporting good causes across Somerset in the process.
What We Collect from Yeovil Doorsteps
We collect the bedroom and bathroom textiles that tend to quietly stack up over years of family life. Sheet sets from the last house move that never quite fitted the new beds, tablecloths from a dining room that has since become something else entirely, bath towels bought in bulk and never fully worked through — these are exactly the kinds of items we are set up to handle, whether it is one bag or several.
Bed Linen
Flat sheets, fitted sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases — single, double, king or super-king, all sizes welcome.
Towels
Bath towels, hand towels and tea towels — clean, dry and still in a condition someone else could genuinely use.
Table Linen
Tablecloths, cloth napkins and other table linen that no longer earns its keep in your home.
How It Works — Three Simple Steps
Check & Sort
Go through your linen cupboard — or the loft if that is where spare bedding has ended up over the years — and pull out the bed linen, towels and table linen you no longer need. If something is heavily stained, torn or coming apart at the seams, set it aside rather than including it. A little care at this stage means a much higher proportion of your donation will reach someone who can actually use it.
Pack Clean & Dry
There is no need to iron anything or fold to a particular standard — the reuse partners we work with do their own sorting. What does matter is that everything going into the bag is clean and dry. Give items a loose fold so the bag closes comfortably, then seal it so nothing picks up moisture while it waits outside for the driver.
Leave Out & We’ll Do the Rest
The evening before your collection day we will send you your time slot, so you will know roughly when to expect the driver. You do not need to be at home — simply leave the bags somewhere clearly visible outside your property. Once your collection is confirmed, there is nothing else to arrange.
Where Your Donation Goes
There is consistent demand for quality bed linen and towels from the reuse partners and good causes we work with across Somerset. Items still in decent shape are passed on for redistribution or resale, with a large percentage of proceeds going to charity. A set of cotton bedclothes in good order is worth significantly more kept whole and in circulation than it would ever be broken down into fibre — which is why reuse is always the priority. Only what genuinely cannot be reused is directed towards textile recycling, keeping it out of landfill entirely.
Cotton is the starkest example of why this matters. Growing and processing enough cotton to make a single t-shirt uses an estimated 2,700 litres of water — roughly what one person might drink across several years. Extend that to a full set of bed linen and the water embedded in those fabrics is considerable. Donating a pair of jeans rather than buying new can save somewhere in the region of 7,000–8,000 litres of water compared with manufacturing a replacement pair, according to published UK estimates. Synthetic fibres present a different problem: they can take decades to decompose in landfill, releasing gases in the process. A Yeovil household that donates its old towels and bedclothes rather than binning them helps to reduce all of that — every bag left out for collection keeps those materials in use a little longer.
The scale of the challenge is worth putting in context. Based on research published by WRAP, the UK discards roughly 920,000 tonnes of textiles every year — around 13 kg per person. For Yeovil’s population of approximately 45,000, that translates to an estimated 585 tonnes of textile waste generated locally each year. These are estimates rather than precise figures, but they point to something real: a great deal of usable material is leaving Somerset households and going to waste when it could still serve a purpose.
Why Doorstep Collection Makes Sense in Yeovil
Anyone who has tried to drop off a bulky bag of bedding at a charity shop in the town centre will know it is rarely as simple as it sounds. Shops are sometimes at capacity, parking on the main streets is rarely convenient, and the effort of loading up the car can be enough to put the whole thing off indefinitely. A free doorstep collection removes every one of those obstacles. There is no minimum bag count, no need to travel anywhere, and — because you do not need to be in when the driver calls — no need to rearrange your day around it.
A linen-cupboard clear-out rarely happens in isolation either. It tends to come alongside a house move, a downsizing, or a family sort-through that sweeps up several rooms at once. In a single visit we can also collect books, clothes, toys, household items and kitchenware — so there is no need to make separate arrangements for different categories. One booking, one visit, one less thing on the list.
Our collection area extends beyond Yeovil itself. We also collect from Sherborne, Crewkerne, Ilminster and Martock, so households right across this part of Somerset can book in when the time comes for a clear-out. You can see the full picture of where we operate on our collections near you page.
