Bridgwater Families: Pass On Outgrown Toys for Free
With around 41,000 people calling Bridgwater home, from the terraces near the town centre out towards Wembdon and Sydenham, it’s no surprise that children’s toys pile up faster than any household plans for. A dusty box of building bricks or a forgotten soft toy doesn’t need to end its life in a bin bag — donating toys in Bridgwater with Anglo Doorstep Collections means it goes straight from your doorstep to a family who’ll actually get some use from it. There’s nothing to pay and nowhere to drive; we simply come to you.

A Second Life for Outgrown Toys
Soft toys, dolls, action figures and building bricks that one child has grown past can easily become another child’s favourite. Second-hand play is simply practical, and good-condition toys rarely sit around for long once they’re passed on.
You Don’t Need to Be In
Busy households, people who work shifts, or anyone who finds it hard to get out don’t need to rearrange their day. Leave your bag on the doorstep and we’ll collect it, no conversation or signature required.
Kinder Than Buying New
Keeping a toy in circulation avoids the raw materials, water and energy that go into manufacturing a replacement — a small decision with a genuinely useful environmental payoff.
What We Collect
Good-condition children’s toys, ready for their next owner
We take a broad range of children’s toys and kids stuff: soft toys, dolls, action figures, wooden stacking toys, train sets, construction bricks and similar playthings that toddlers and older children grow out of long before the toys themselves wear out. If it’s complete, clean and still playable, it’s almost certainly welcome. We’re not able to take larger toy items such as ride-on toys, doll houses, play gyms, ball pits or board games, so please keep those aside — but for everything else in the kids’ toy box, we’re glad to take it off your hands.
Parts, Components and What Happens Next
Reuse first, recycling as the fallback
Toys with all their pieces intact — a complete train set, a full box of bricks, a doll with all its accessories — are far more useful to the next family than something missing half its parts, so it’s worth a quick check before bagging things up. Where an item turns out not to be suitable for reuse once it reaches our partners, it’s directed towards recycling rather than landfill wherever that’s possible, so even toys that can’t go straight to another child still avoid being wasted outright. Everything that is fit for a second home passes on to our charity and reuse partners, supporting their work and, in turn, a large percentage of proceeds goes to charity.
Collecting Across Bridgwater and the Surrounding Villages

One free service, covering the whole area
Bridgwater isn’t a sprawling city, but it still stretches from the town centre and Eastover out towards Wembdon, Bower and Hamp, and a free doorstep collection means nobody has to cross town with an armful of toys just to find a drop-off point. We collect just as readily in Cannington and North Petherton, and extend the same service out to Highbridge and into Taunton, so if you’ve got relatives or neighbours further afield, they’re covered too. You’ll get your collection time slot sent over the evening before your collection day, so there’s no need to wait in all morning wondering when the van might turn up.
There’s no minimum amount required before we’ll come out, and no maximum either — one bag of outgrown toys or several boxes cleared from the loft make no difference to us. Every bit of it helps, and the service costs nothing either way.
The Environmental Case for Donating Rather Than Binning
Small local choices, measurable UK-wide impact
Somerset Council manages waste collection across the area, and bulky or mixed-material items like children’s toys — plastic, fabric, sometimes a bit of both — are exactly the sort of thing that takes up disproportionate space in landfill once thrown away. Nationally, an estimated one million tonnes of reusable household goods are discarded across the UK every year, toys among them. Published UK estimates, including figures from WRAP, suggest that reusing toys, kitchenware and bric-a-brac rather than replacing them saves the raw materials, water and energy that go into manufacturing new versions from scratch. None of that is a guarantee attached to any single toy, but across a town the size of Bridgwater, choosing to donate rather than bin even a modest number of items adds up to a genuinely useful reduction in what reaches Somerset’s landfill sites.
Not Just for Parents Clearing a Bedroom
Donations come from all sorts of households
Parents tackling an overflowing toy box ahead of a new arrival are the obvious example, but plenty of our Bridgwater donations come from elsewhere entirely. Grandparents out in Cannington or North Petherton who built up a collection for weekend visits often reach a point where there’s simply too much for the space available. Childminders rotating their stock, and anyone helping an elderly relative or neighbour who finds it difficult to get out and about, make use of the same free collection rather than letting things sit in a cupboard indefinitely. Clean soft toys and complete construction sets tend to find new homes quickly once they’re out of your house and into the right hands.
“Booking takes two minutes online, you don’t have to wait in all day, and the toys end up somewhere they’re genuinely wanted rather than gathering dust — that’s really the whole appeal.”
While You’re Having a Clear-Out
One visit can cover more than just toys
Toy clear-outs in our experience rarely happen on their own — they tend to go hand in hand with a wider tidy-up. The same free visit can take other items too, so it’s worth a look at our pages for clothes, books and household items to see what else can go in the same booking. We also collect in nearby Taunton, and every place we serve across the wider area is listed on our collections near you page.
