Got Outgrown Toys at Home in Weston-super-Mare?

Somewhere between the last day of school and the first box going into the loft, most Weston-super-Mare households end up with a drawer, a cupboard or a corner of the garage that’s quietly filling with outgrown toys. Whether it’s the result of a spring clean, a house move along the seafront, a loft finally being cleared, or a bedroom being made ready for a new arrival, the outcome is usually the same: a bag of children’s toys that’s too good to bin and too awkward to get to a charity shop. Anglo Doorstep Collections picks it up from your doorstep, free of charge, so that good-condition kids’ stuff goes to another family rather than into a wheelie bin.

What counts as a worthwhile donation

Most toys have years of play left in them long after one child has moved on.

A toy’s working life rarely ends when a child loses interest — that’s usually just the point where it needs a second home. Soft toys, dolls, action figures, wooden stacking toys, train sets and construction bricks all hold up well to being passed on, and they’re exactly the sort of children’s toys and kids stuff we’re glad to collect. A set of building bricks or a well-loved teddy can realistically be played with by two or three further children before it’s truly worn out, which makes keeping it out of landfill an easy call rather than a difficult one.

  • Check pieces are reasonably complete before bagging them up
  • Give anything that’s lived in the garden or garage a quick wipe down
  • Take batteries out of anything electronic
  • No need to sort by age group or dig out original boxes

From doorstep to another child’s bedroom

Booking takes a couple of minutes; the rest is handled for you.

Arranging a collection is done through our online booking form, and there’s nothing to pay at any stage. We’ll send your collection time slot the evening before your collection day, so you’ve a rough idea of when to put the bag out rather than waiting in all morning. You don’t need to be home when the driver arrives — just leave everything somewhere accessible, with smaller pieces bagged together so sets don’t get separated en route. From there, usable items go to our charity and reuse partners, and a large percentage of proceeds goes to charity, so the clear-out does more good than simply freeing up shelf space.

Covering Weston-super-Mare and the villages around it

One driver, one doorstep collection — wherever you are in the area.

Weston-super-Mare is home to around 83,000 people, spread from the seafront and town centre out towards quieter residential streets, and a free kerbside collection means nobody has to drive across town with a bag of toys balanced on the back seat. We collect directly from your doorstep whether you’re near Grove Park, out towards Uphill, or up by Worle. We also collect from Kewstoke and Banwell, so neighbours and family in those villages can book just as easily. There’s no minimum amount required and no maximum either — one bag or several, it’s collected at no charge either way.

“Whether you’re clearing one shelf or an entire loft of outgrown toys, the collection costs nothing and the toys end up where they’re actually wanted.”

What it means for Weston-super-Mare’s environment

Reuse quietly does more for Somerset‘s waste problem than most people realise.

Across the UK, an estimated one million tonnes of reusable household goods are thrown away every year, and toys make up a steady share of that figure — plastic, fabric and metal combined in ways that don’t break down kindly in landfill. Published UK estimates, including figures from WRAP, suggest that reusing toys, kitchenware and bric-a-brac saves the raw materials, water and energy that would otherwise go into manufacturing replacements from scratch. The council covering Weston-super-Mare has to manage disposal for a town of around 83,000 residents, and every bag of toys that’s collected for reuse rather than sent to landfill is one less item adding to that pressure, and one less source of the methane that decomposing waste produces.

Worth knowing: there’s no need to separate toys by material or age range before we collect — just bag them together and we’ll take care of sorting them with our reuse partners.

Not only parents doing the clearing out

Downsizing, moving house or simply tidying up all tend to turn up the same thing — toys nobody’s using.

Parents clearing a room for a new baby are the obvious example, but they’re joined by grandparents in Kewstoke or Uphill who kept a toy box for weekend visits that grew larger than needed, and by anyone downsizing to a smaller home in or around Weston-super-Mare who finds toys among the things that simply won’t fit in the new place. Childminders updating their supplies and relatives sorting through a loved one’s belongings after a life change often turn up good-condition children’s toys too. None of it needs to be thrown away for the sake of convenience — it needs collecting, which is the part we handle.

Worth adding to the same booking

A clear-out rarely stops at just one category of item.

Toys are seldom the only thing that comes out of a loft, wardrobe or garage during a proper clear-out, so feel free to add other items to the same visit. Our pages for clothes, books and household items cover what else we’re able to take in one trip. We also collect from Worle, Kewstoke, Uphill and Banwell, and every area we serve across Somerset is listed on our collections near you page if you’d like to check further afield.
