Kids’ Toys in Carlisle? We Collect Them Free
With around 75,000 people calling Carlisle home, and plenty of young families scattered across its estates and outlying villages, it doesn’t take long for a toy box to overflow. Children’s toys have a short shelf life compared with how well they’re usually built — a wooden train set or a box of building bricks might see only a year or two of real use before it’s shoved to the back of a cupboard, still perfectly good but no longer wanted. Rather than letting that sit there indefinitely or end up in the bin, a free doorstep collection means those toys can be passed on to another family who’ll get proper use out of them, with no cost and no effort beyond leaving a bag by your door.
Book a Free CollectionAnglo Doorstep Collections picks up directly from homes across Carlisle, and from nearby Dalston, Brampton, Wetheral and Longtown too, so you don’t need to drive anywhere or find a convenient charity shop opening time. It works just as well whether you’re having a proper spring clean, clearing a loft or garage, sorting cupboards room by room, or packing up a house ahead of a move. A guilt-free clear-out is one thing; knowing the toys you’ve outgrown are going somewhere useful rather than into a skip is what makes it worthwhile.
- Completely free doorstep collection — no charge, no catch
- We collect from your home in Carlisle, Dalston, Brampton, Wetheral and Longtown
- Good-condition toys are reused rather than sent to landfill
We collect children’s toys, kids toys and general kids stuff in good, usable condition — things like soft toys, dolls, action figures, wooden stacking toys, train sets and construction bricks. If it’s complete, clean and something a child could pick up and play with straight away, it’s almost certainly welcome.
Yes — we’re not able to collect doll houses, ride-on toys, board games, bulky toys, ball pits, jigsaws, play gyms, baby swings or baby bouncers. These tend to be oversized or have parts that make them unsuitable for our collection round, so please keep these out of your donation bag.
A quick wipe-down for anything that’s been in the garden or garage is appreciated, and batteries should be removed from anything electronic. There’s no need to sort by age group, find the original box, or do anything beyond making sure pieces are reasonably complete.
Not at all. Once you’ve booked online, simply leave your bag somewhere our driver can reach it on the day — porch, doorstep or garden gate all work fine. We’ll send you a time slot the evening before so you have a rough idea of when to expect us.
No minimum and no maximum. One bag of outgrown toys from a single bedroom clear-out is just as welcome as several bags gathered during a house move or a proper loft clear-out. The collection is free either way.
Everything usable is passed on to our charity and reuse partners, who get it to families and children who can genuinely use it. A large percentage of proceeds goes to charity, so beyond the toys themselves finding a new home, there’s a wider benefit too.
Yes — alongside Carlisle itself, we collect from Dalston, Brampton, Wetheral and Longtown. Wherever your postcode falls within that area, the same free doorstep service applies, with the same booking process and the same time-slot notification.
Definitely — clear-outs rarely involve just one category. Take a look at our pages for clothes, books and household items to see what else can go in the same collection, and check our collections near you page to confirm coverage.
Cumbria’s council-run waste sites handle a steady flow of bulky household items every year, and toys — being an awkward mix of plastic, fabric and sometimes electronics — are exactly the kind of thing that’s easy to bin but genuinely worth reusing instead. UK-wide estimates, including figures published by WRAP, suggest reusing toys and similar household goods rather than discarding them saves the raw materials, water and energy that go into manufacturing replacements, while also keeping bulky waste out of landfill and avoiding the methane and pollution that comes with it. With roughly a million tonnes of reusable household goods thrown away across the UK each year, a single bag of toys left on a Carlisle doorstep is a small but genuinely useful contribution in the right direction, sitting near the top of the waste hierarchy by keeping items in use rather than letting them go to waste. It costs nothing, takes a couple of minutes to arrange, and means the toys your children have grown out of go on to be loved by somebody else’s.
