What Should You Do with Your Old Toys?

As children grow up, they quickly outgrow their toys, leaving parents with figuring out what to do with these once-loved items. Instead of putting them in the bin, take a more sustainable approach to reduce waste by recycling and re-homing their old toys. You can make a significant impact by donating your pre-loved items in a sustainable way. The donated items will benefit our amazing charity partners and go into a loving home.

Take Action: Declutter

If your children have things that are no longer being played with, consider booking a doorstep collection for us. By doing so, you’ll give your old toys a new lease on life and help promote a more sustainable future.

Embrace this opportunity to declutter your home, reduce waste, and bring joy to other children by recycling and re-homing their Lego, barbie dolls, Play Mobil, and much more. Together, we can make a positive environmental impact.

We collect directly from your home, or your booked collection address. Our day-to-day customers are parents having a declutter of their children’s teddies. In addition to our doorstep collections, we also provide services for nurseries, daycares, and primary schools that need to clear out or have surplus stock of toys they no longer need. We have no limit on the amount of toys we can collect. Just send us an email if it is going to be over 20 bags or boxes. Big clear outs are great!

Recycling and Re-Homing Toys: Creating a Greener Future

Every item thrown into a landfill adds to our planet’s growing waste problem. Plastic building blocks, especially, can take hundreds of years to decompose, releasing harmful chemicals into the soil and water. By recycling and re-homing the unused items, you can make a significant difference. Keep reading to find out why recycling and re-homing yours and your children’s unwanted, pre-loved household items are essential and how you can get involved.

Environmental Pollution

When these items end up on landfills, they harm the environment. Recycling these mean materials like plastic lego, metal cars, and fabric soft toys are used again, keeping them out of landfills. This helps save resources, cuts down pollution, and reduces the strain on the environment.

Preserve Our Resources

Making new toys uses up a lot of raw materials, energy, and water. By recycling toys, we reduce the need for these resources. Recycled toys can be turned into new products, which means we don’t need as many new materials or as much energy. This helps protect natural habitats and reduces the carbon footprint of production. There is always going to be a doll, lego pieces or a cuddly and soft toy that is sitting around not being used or played with, don’t let them take up room in your child’s room when you can donate them to help amazing charities.

Spread Joy to Others

Re-homing toys gives them a second life, letting children enjoy them again. Many families can’t afford new toys, and donated toys can make a big difference in their lives. Organisations like us gather and distribute used toys to homes where they will be loved again. Each year, they collect about 200 tonnes of old toys, making sure they bring happiness to new families.

Support Charities

When you donate toys through our service, you’re helping our partner charities. The money made from selling recycled toys gives these charities the funds they need to continue their work. Booking a toy collection with us creates a positive impact, supporting various charitable causes and strengthening community ties. You get to select a charity to support when filling out the booking form, after you will receive a booking confirmation which will tell you how much we have raised for that charity so far and information about the charity. Educate Children on Donating and Decluttering

Recycling and re-homing toys can teach children important lessons about looking after the environment and helping others. It shows them why it’s important to care for the planet and support people in need. By getting your children involved in sorting, tidying up, and donating toys, you are helping them learn values like generosity, responsibility, and sustainability that will last a lifetime. Sit with your children and create two piles. Keep or donate. Explain how beneficial donating is to them and then begin the process! Even if it is a couple of toys a month that they have grown out of or no longer enjoy playing with, donating is the way forward instead of throwing into landfill.

How to Get Started on Decluttering and Organising

We want to make it easy to donate your old toys. Choose a date that suits you, and their team will pick up the toys from your doorstep. If you won’t be home on the collection day, you can leave the toys in bags or boxes outside for pickup. If you can label the box/bag with ‘Anglo Doorstep Collections’, this will help our drivers. Soft and Cuddly toys can go into bags, any hard toys that could break in transport would be best in a box.

What Happens to the Collected Toys?

All donated items in good condition are given new homes. Some stay in the UK, while others are sent to Africa and the Middle East. Many children in these regions have experienced conflict, and toys provide a welcome distraction and source of joy.

Despite the challenges, we work hard to ensure that all donated items find new homes. This effort brings happiness to children and helps create a more sustainable world for their future.

By choosing to recycle and re-home your toys, you reduce waste, conserve resources, and help raise vital funding for our partnered charities. Get involved today and make a positive impact on both the environment and the lives of children around the world. Help put your child’s pre-loved Lego, Duplo, Play Mobil, Barbie dolls and soft teddies back into circulation!

Customer Reviews

Absolutely fantastic company and reliable. I’ve been using Anglo for over a year as have recently downsized. I was a bit worried that they wouldn’t be able to locate my new address so I emailed them before the collection day and had 20 boxes and bin liners collected on time yesterday. I also like the way they change charities every so often. – Ruth

Great service! Was clearing out my children’s playroom of all their old toys and it was a great way to donate and help their amazing charities. Highly recommend they accept most household items so i can book in regular slots for all my items to be collected. – Sarah

I was totally impressed with the service. It was easy to book a pickup online, the day before pickup a 2 hour pickup window was provided. On the day, I got a link to track the driver live and know exactly when he’d arrive. He arrived promptly to pick up my donation boxes. I highly recommend Anglo Doorstep Charity Collection and will definitely use this service again! – Anna
