Do you need to Declutter your home?

Do you think your home is overflowing with clothes? Shoes? Toys? Clutter?

According to a 2019 report by the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), nearly 1 in 5 households in the UK are considered to be cluttered. The report defines clutter as “an accumulation of possessions that are no longer needed or used, and which prevent the smooth functioning of the home.” Clutter can be caused by a variety of factors, including hoarding tendencies, a lack of organization, and an inability to let go of possessions.

Clutter can have negative impacts on both mental and physical health. It can contribute to feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as exacerbate respiratory issues by trapping dust and other allergens.

Efforts to declutter and organize one’s home can be beneficial, as it can improve mental well-being, increase productivity, and create a more enjoyable living space. The RSPH report suggests a number of strategies for decluttering, including setting aside dedicated time for organizing, breaking down the task into manageable chunks, and seeking support from friends or professionals when necessary.
